About the course
In this training you learn to correctly adjust a screen or television set (after a repair or a service intervention) in order to deliver an optimal image quality adapted to the usage situation. Specifically, a number of technical aspects that are important in this regard are discussed, such as:

  • How to adapt the image to the viewing environment / standards and wishes of the user;
  • How to achieve the right color scheme/color saturation and which aspects are important;
  • How to set the color temperature to the correct/desired value;
  • Achieving maximum detail in both the dark and the light parts of the image (combating 'clipping' and/or 'blackcrush');
  • How to obtain as much depth as possible in the image for a more optimal 3D viewing experience;
  • Which aspects influence the geometry of the image and how you can set it as correctly as possible;
    How to counteract effects such as artifacts, red push, edge enhancement, halos etc.;

Targetgroup
This training is intended for professional TV technicians, who regularly service devices in professional (B2B) environments. Afterwards you will be able to independently calibrate and adjust screens in accordance with the specifications of the user and tailored to the usage situation/application.

Duration and nature of the training
This training is given in classroom form and covers a total of 2 half-days. During the first part of the day, demonstrations by the instructor the theory discussed. In part 2 of the training, the student gets to work on the basis of a number of concrete and practice-related assignments.

Review and completion
The theoretical part is tested by means of a digital test with open and multiple choice questions. The practical part is concluded with a Test of Competency. With a sufficient score on both tests, the student will receive a Certificate.
This specialization is a Module belonging to the Training Service & Reparair Technician - Specialist.

Entrance qualifications
To participate in this training, candidates must have the following competencies, experience and level of knowledge:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or comparable level based on demonstrable work experience;
  • Sound knowledge of image technology and electronics;
  • Minimum 3 years work experience as a TV technician;
  • High quality awareness and accuracy of work;
  • Some affinity with color and light settings or a well-developed sense of color.

The price of this training is € 395 per student, excluding VAT and costs for the final test and certificate (see Rates).
The minimum group size is 4 students. With sufficient participation, this training is offered throughout the year.
